Pet Semetary

Hello everyone, I finally finished the book that I was reading. It is called Pet Semetary by Stephen King. So I will give you a summary and a review of the book.

This book is about a family that moves from a big city to a small town. The main character is a middle aged man named Louis. He has a wife and two young children, Gage and Ellie. Upon arriving at their new house they notice that their front yard is home to one of the busiest roads in the city. At all hours there are huge semis that speed down the street. They also meet their elderly neighbors, Jud and Norma. Jud and Louis become good friends and end up spending a lot of time together. Jud takes the family on a walk through the woods behind their new house. The path leads to an old cemetery where all of the neighborhood kids buried their pets. A lot of whom were killed by the road in front of the Creeds house. A few days after the trip to the cemetery the family cat, Church is run over in the road while Louis was home by himself. Jud has Louis put the cat in a bag and bring a shovel to go bury the cat. Along the way Louis realizes that Jud isn't taking him to the pet cemetery but somewhere beyond that on the trail. To get to this place they have to walk across dead trees and climb stairs. Jud is telling Louis about the old Indians that used this area as a burial ground. This was no ordinary place though because when someone buries something their it comes back to life. I think that is a good place to leave off my summary because I don't want to give you too much information.

This book had some unexpected moments that made it really interesting. I always read before I go to bed as you can imagine this book left me with some frightening images. I was pleasantly surprised while reading this book because it was scary. This the first book that I read that was scary, so I wasn't sure if it was going to be as scary as watching a movie. Speaking of movies, this movie was actually on T.V this weekend. I didn't have time to watch it but  I recorded it so I can watch it when I have more time. I also just found out that there is a sequel to the movie. Anyway this movie has some parts that made me tear up and parts that gave me bad dreams. This book is not for the faint of heart, there is a lot of graphic scenes and the whole idea is disturbing. Stephen King himself said that he wrote this book and put it in his desk because he thought it was too scary. He ended up taking it out a few years later and publishing it.

If you have seen the movies or read the book leave me a comment. I am also looking for another Stephen King book to read if you have any recommendations. Thanks for reading! :)
